My friend Jeff Neill is an expert when it comes to using articles as a marketing tool for your business efforts. Just take a look at his article directory "New Articles Online" and you'll see what I mean.

For those considering using articles as a marketing tool...read on. Jeff gives some very sound advice......

Using Articles As Leads Sources

Articles have always worked. It`s just right now there is a big awareness of it (again). I`m guessing when Jason Potash came out with his article submitting software that put a lot of peoples attention on article marketing again.

My personal opinion is article marketing is a great way for the average person to do some great things with their marketing efforts. People low on cash. Maybe people who do not understand or enjoy direct marketing.

Anyone who knows something and can write, or even pay someone to write for them can use articles to their advantage. But with this there also comes a problem. So many people think article marketing is a magic bullet. So everyone is doing it.

Not everyone, but you know what I mean.

So now there is a huge amount of crappy articles. Articles written with no effort put into them. And all these private label articles that are being submitted that are all the same. Sometimes word for word.

A well written article has to compete with all that, unfortunately. As more and more articles get submitted and published it will become more difficult. But at the same time, long term you can win.

So many ariticles being published today are "signed" by a false name. They often just lead to some quickly thrown together website. It shows.

I guess the point I want to make is look to the future. Write the best articles you can and brand yourself. Don`t just use your articles for traffic today, but be seen as the "answer man" for future problems.

What is *your* specialty. How can you help your reader, if not now then perhaps tommorrow.

And look past the article. Past just getting traffic. Think about what you are going to do with that traffic once you get it. I encourage you to think long term.
